The XB Externally Pressurised Bellows is well suited to
allow large amounts of axial deflection in long straight runs of pipe.
In long straight runs of pipe that are correctly guided
and have anchors to absorb the bellows pressure thrust.
Where it is impractical to use more than two normal
bellows together because of the tendency to squirm once a certain length-diameter ratio is
exceeded.
In tunnels or locations where articulated joints can not
be used but where large amounts of axial expansion have to be absorbed. It would normally
be less expensive to install one XB joint than to divide the pipeline up into several sets
of single expansion joints with anchors and guides.
The XB Externally Pressurised Bellows is designed so that
the pressure is external to the bellows whilst the inside is at atmospheric pressure
